Atty. Marissa P. Garcia and Atty. Abigail R. dela Rosa, Mediator-Arbiters of the Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR), acted as resource persons for the Basic Course for Labor Laws Compliance Officers (LLCOs) on 17 March 2017 at the Ramada Manila Central in Binondo, Manila.
Atty. Garcia lectured on labor relations particularly tripartism and social dialogue, right to self-organization, right to security of tenure and jurisdictions on labor disputes. Atty. Dela Rosa discussed Articles 106 to 109 of the Labor Code of the Philippines, as amended and the jurisdictions on contracting and subcontracting.
The 10-day training course intended to build and enhance the capacity of DOLE LLCOs in the conduct of assessment of establishments on compliance withon general labor standards, occupational safety and health standards and other labor laws and regulations.
Fifty (50) newly-hired and designated LLCOs from DOLE Regional Offices and Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC) attended the training.
Other resource persons were representatives from Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC), Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC), National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSCH), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), and Social Security System (SSS).
